For Sale: 1951 Willys Pickup in Solon, Ohio for sale in Solon, OH
Vehicle Description Similar to the ubiquitous Willys Jeep CJ Wagon, the Willys Pickup Truck was introduced in 1947 in both 2T and 4T models.
The 4 x 4 Jeep Truck model had the same 118-inch wheelbase as the 4 x 2 pickup and an identical pickup bed (79w x 15.
75 h), and the 4WD model was rated at 5,300 GVW with a 1 ton payload.
Beginning in 1949, the Jeep Truck emblem was replaced a 4-Wheel Drive emblem.
And, for more convenience, the 1/3-2/3 seat design became a single bench that tilted forward for under-seat storage.
This 4x4 pickup truck was restored and used for 10 years by the previous owner.
He found it in a barn in Kansas, where it had been sitting unused for over 50 years, with under 60,000 miles.
Not wanting to restore the engine, he installed a 1976 Buick V6 231 cu in 3.
8 engine and paired it with a rebuilt 225 V6 Rochester 2-Jet carburetor.
Also installed were a Turbo Hydra-matic 400 transmission, a Ford 9-inch rear end and power steering.
It is obviously faster with the V 6 engine and drives like a modern truck.
This unique '51 pickup has new front and rear drum brakes as well as brake lines.
Five Michelin LTX A/T tires have been installed and (as shown in the undercarriage pictures) newer mufflers have been installed with the dual exhaust.
In 2016, it was repainted a vibrant General Motors Riverside Red (code 923).
The last owner replaced all the fluids on a regular basis.
The radiator looks newer, and the battery was replaced in late 2019 and has been on a tender when not in use.
It starts quickly at the turn of the key and runs exceptionally well.
While it's not a show car, this fun 1951 Willys Pickup Truck should give its new owner miles of on- or off-road driving experiences.
